Chytrids
Genetic evidence suggests that chytrids developed early in fungal evolution. Chytrids are single celled but are sometimes exist as a colonies in hyphae structure. They have flagellum bearing spores called zoospores that set them apart from the rest of the kingdom. A species of chytrids called Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis is an example of a parasitic member of the group that is responsible for the extinction of many frog populations.
