Animals
Animals are multicellular heterotrophs that are unique from plants and fungi because, with a few exceptions, they are motile. All animals have a blastula stage in development and most have a gastrula stage with three distinct germ layers, the endoderm, exoderm, and mesoderm. Most animals also have some sort of muscle and nervous tissue. The kingdom has its roots in a particular protist called the choanoflagellates.
